Volunteers

Mississippi Food Network could not do its job well without the help of volunteers. If it weren’t for such friends, tackling hunger in our state would be a more daunting task. But because of volunteers, we’re able to get more done, at less cost. We have volunteer opportunities during the week and one Saturday a month.

To help us provide you with a great volunteer opportunity, effective immediately, if you are interested in volunteering with Mississippi Food Network, the first step you MUST take is to register through Galaxy Digital, our online volunteer scheduler. Once you are in our system, you will receive all our requests and alerts for volunteer help and will be eligible to volunteer. If you have questions, please contact Stacey Cain at 601-973-7089 or [email protected].

Please wear appropriate clothing for a distribution center setting with limited heat in the winter and no air conditioning in the summer. Please wear closed-toe shoes, and we suggest layering your clothes, especially during the cold months.

* Please review our Volunteer Policy before attending any volunteer activities. If you are a group leader, please share the information with your group.

Food Drives

Food drives help keep the food bank stocked year round with shelf stable items like canned meat, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned soups and peanut butter.  Coordinating a food drive can be an exciting opportunity for your local business, school, church, or club.  If your organization would like to host a food drive, please contact Stacey Cain at 601-973-7089 or [email protected].

Every $1 donated provides six meals to hungry Mississippians, and 97 cents of every dollar goes to our programs. Please consider not just a one-time donation, but signing up for our monthly giving program.

There are other ways to give:

  • Shop at Kroger. When shopping at Kroger Stores, make a donation to MFN by registering your Kroger card with the Community Rewards Program (www.kroger.com/account/enrollCommunityRewardsNow/)  or through the scan card program found at all registers.

Campaigns

Hunger Action Month – The Feeding America network’s annual nationwide campaign designed to spread awareness and engage the public in the movement to end hunger. The campaign brings attention to the reality that in every community in America, people are working hard to provide for themselves and their families; yet in 2022, 44 million people—1 in 7 people—experienced food insecurity in the U.S. This includes 1 in 6 Mississippians and 1 in 4 children in Mississippi Food Networks service area.
