NEW BACKPACK PROGRAM KICKS OFF THIS SUMMER Excitement filled the air at the end of the first week at the Stewpot Community Services summer program as each child received a backpack filled with food. In partnership with the Stewpot Community Services, the Mississippi Food Network started their first backpack program this summer. MORE>>>>> EMERGING LEADERS STUDENT INSTITUTE PARTICIPANTS VOLUNTEER Students from the “Emerging Leaders Student Institute ELSI” held at the Hinds Community College Utica Campus came to volunteer at Mississippi Food Network as part of their community service for the program. MORE>>>>> HOBY STUDENTS VOLUNTEER AT MISSISSIPPI FOOD NETWORK When most young people were “sleeping in” on Saturday morning, volunteers participating in the Summer Leadership Seminar with the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Program (HOBY) were sorting and packing boxes of food at Mississippi Food Network. MOBILE PANTRY DISTRIBUTES FRESH CORN The Mobile Pantry recently visited McLaurin Heights United Methodist Church Food Pantry and the New Dimension Food Pantry to distribute fresh corn. All of the food pantry clients were excited to be getting this fresh produce, especially right before the 4th of July holiday.
REGIONS BANK EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATE IN FOOD DRIVE The management staff of Regions Bank in the Jackson area recently participated in a food drive and raised 828 pounds of canned food items. Our thanks to them for participating in this food drive that will help provide 645 meals to our fellow Mississippians.
